Neil formed McCarthy Consulting Group, a leadership and team performance coaching and consulting practice, in 2003. After 10 years of leading and educating as a guide with Alpine Ascents International and the National Outdoor Leadership School, Neil decided to pursue a deeper understanding of human motivation, behaviors, and dynamics he had observed for years on expeditions. He holds a MA in Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University.
The focus of his work has been to aid leaders and teams to translate theories of individual, team, and organizational process and performance into practical and applicable actions that deliver results. Over the past 5 years, Neil has worked extensively with leaders and teams at Microsoft, as well as a number of other organizations, in the Pacific Northwest. Neils experience leading expeditions to the highest peaks in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Central and South America, Antarctica, and the Himalayas, gave him an intimate understanding of the importance, the challenges, and the impact of leadership on team performance. In his coaching and consulting work with organizations he has seen the same human responses to uncertainty, adversity, failure, and success as he has on dozens of expeditions. Whether in the mountains or the conference room, he believes the key to great leadership is to be consistently developing ones ability and resiliency to work effectively with the behavioral, emotional, and mental processes within ones self and others while pursuing demanding goals and objectives.
Senior Guide, Alpine Ascents International
A long-time Northwest mountaineer, Dave has climbed and guided throughout the Himalayas, South America, the Cascades, Alaska Range and Russia. He has traveled and climbed extensively over his lifetime and has worked as a full-time guide for Alpine Ascents for the past five years. A natural leader, Dave has been described as the ultimate guide, instructor and friend while still spending time on a number of personal, highly technical climbs in the Himalayas, Alaska and a successful ascent of the coveted South Face of Aconcagua. Dave has led our expeditions to Everest, Vinson, Elbrus, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Cho-Oyu, Mexico, Aconcagua, Denali, Bolivia, Rainier and many Washington and Alaska mountaineering climbs and courses. Dave enjoys teaching the fundamentals and guides technical peaks such as Ama Dablam while enjoying all the city life with our groups in between climbs. He has completed his Level III Avalance training. His grasp for languages, history and climbing have made him both an educated and successful guide for many of our domestic and international expeditions. In 2002, Dave received the AAC Mountain Adventure Award. Recently Dave summited Everest four times as a leader of our 2004 - 2007 guide teams wich saw 97 climbers reach the summit and successfully led our Mount Vinson, Cho-Oyu and Island Peak Expeditions and put up a new route on Mount Vinson with Todd Passey. Dave also summited Carstensz Pyramid twice as the leader of our successful 2006 expedition which put 7 team members on top.

Randy is an executive coach and organizational development consultant in Seattle. Since the early 1990s Randy has guided, trained and facilitated the behavioral advancement and goal attainment of individuals, teams and leaders. He has done this through a combination of wilderness expeditionary learning and hands on organizational development initiatives.
Randy complimented his undergraduate studies in Anthropology at UC Santa Cruz by studying Applied Behavioral Science at the Leadership Institute of Seattle, specifically in Leadership and Organization Development. This furthered his awareness and understanding of human dynamics, and how to navigate and influence human systems successfully. Randys approach draws on decades of global and wilderness adventure. His travels for both work and education have brought him to more than 30 countries on 5 continents. For more than a decade he lead groups to many remote wilderness and cultural regions of the world for Outward Bound, Top Guides, and World Challenge Expeditions.
Demonstrated by his own ability to seek out, study and experience change, Randy supports others success by helping them better understand and manage the complexities of system and team dynamics. Aside from direct individual and team coaching, training and facilitation, Randy is a master of outdoor experiential activities which illustrate concepts in practical terms to increase transference into other environs and contexts. He supports leaders in corporate, not for profit, academic and government sectors. His client list includes Sony Pictures Entertainment, Charles Schwab, Applied Materials, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems, Microsoft and the American Leadership Forum. Randy successfully helps people explore and apply the knowledge and experience available for continual learning and improved performance.
