Guide: Mount Rainier, Cascades

Dan Starr began guiding in 2002. Dan has guided rock and alpine climbs throughout the North Cascades, the Alaska Range, on Mount Rainier, in the Khumbu region of Nepal, the Teton Range, and the Wind River Range, Red Rocks Nevada and ice routes near Ouray Colorado. A passionate ski mountaineer and professional ski patrolman in Jackson Hole from 2000 to 2011, and a lift accessed side-country ski guide for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort since 2011, Dan has guided ski descents of various peaks including the Grand Teton, several seasons worth of heli-ski descents in Alaska's Chugach Range, and exotic ski tours and ski descents around the world including on the Antarctic Peninsula, Argentina's Tierra Del Fuego, and Morocco's High Atlas Range, the Canadian Rockies and Canada's Rogers Pass. Dan began teaching avalanche courses for the American Avalanche Institute and guiding expeditions on Denali's West Buttress in 2005. A fifteen-year resident of Jackson Hole, Dan has completed numerous ski descents on virtually every Teton peak. Dan climbed Ama Dablam in a one-day push and guided Lobuje East in Nepal in 2005 and climbed Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya in 1995. Dan is currently a certified AMGA Aspirant and Alpine guide.
