Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

At Alpine Ascents, we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants and staff. We do not tolerate harassment or mistreatment among climbers, trekkers, skiers, and staff. This includes any behavior that creates a disrespectful, intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive atmosphere, all of which are violations of our policy.

We also expect everyone to treat the mountain environment respectfully, following Leave No Trace principles.

Violations of this policy may result in removal from the program. We prioritize the safety and well-being of everyone on our climbing teams, including both climbers and guides. Any incidents that violate our code of conduct should be reported to our Director of Field Operations.

EXPEDITION BEHAVIOR

By participating in this trip, you agree to maintain a high standard of conduct at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, showing respect, kindness, and consideration for your fellow team members and guides. As a participant, you agree to:

  • Communicate openly and honestly with your guides.
  • Support and encourage team members, fostering a cooperative and inclusive environment.
  • Resolve conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner.
  • Follow all instructions provided by your guides.
  • Avoid any behavior that could be considered disrespectful, disruptive, or harmful to the team dynamic. This includes dirty or degrading jokes, hateful speech of any kind, etc. Unacceptable behavior also includes actions that undermine the dignity and safety of others.

Failure to adhere to these standards may result in removal from the expedition at the discretion of the expedition leaders. When determining whether behavior breaches this policy, we consider whether a reasonable person would perceive it as creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or demeaning environment.

Your commitment to positive expedition behavior ensures a safe, enjoyable, and successful experience for everyone involved.

FITNESS

This is an extremely rigorous program and being in strong physical condition is mandatory. Please refer to the Training Expectations on our website for your specific trip.

  • The guide retains the right, at any point, to determine whether a climber is sufficiently fit to continue the climb. If a client cannot continue the climb at the required pace, they may be turned around on route.
  • Early departures due to fitness inadequacy may be subject to an evacuation fee if transportation from the mountain is required.

I enjoyed the Vinson expedition immensely. It was well organized, I had excellent guides (that I was familiar with), and the food while on Vinson was great.
