Alpine Ascents 2016 Carstensz Pyramid Expedition: First Cybercast!

Friends, family, fans and followers – this is the first Cybercast of the Alpine Ascents 2016 Carstensz Pyramid Expedition! Great news! I am pleased to announce that all members of the expedition, Brian, Geneva, Dave and Randy have arrived in Bali, safe and sound, with all their luggage as well. We have completed gear check, and will be in half an hour sitting down to our first team dinner together. A few hours later, at midnight local time, we will depart for the Denpasar airport (10 minutes from our lovely hotel) and flying overnight to Timika. With any luck, shortly after our arrival in Timika we will transfer to a waiting helicopter and flying to the Yellow Valley basecamp to begin our climb. From that point on, Cybercasting will of course be done by Sat Phone rather than email, as that will be what is available to us.

I’ll include a few photos of our lovely Bali hotel for context…
