Lost Boys taking an acclimatization hike to Laguna Baños

Today we started the day at 8am with breakfast at the Termas de Papallacta resort cafeteria. After breakfast we headed back to our cabins and prepared food fit for kings, i.e. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, in preparation for our acclimatization hike from the resort to Laguna Baños. The total hike was 7.2 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 1,700 feet.

We encountered beautiful scenery throughout our hike. In particular we were fortunate to have the opportunity to walk down a new trail to visit the very base of the approximately 80 feet tall castrada de baños.

Most of our hike, time passed by quickly as team members shared stories from past times as well as a set of really funny jokes. And particularly, one of these jokes is sure to stay in our collective memories for a long time to come. We returned back to the resort in the afternoon, where some team members soaked in the natural hot pools.

Tomorrow we all look forward to leaving the resort for the base camp of Antisana.
