The team enjoys a relaxing, beautiful day practicing skills and eating good food at Low Camp

Hello, this is Garrett Madison calling in for the Alpine Ascents Mount Vinson climb. Today is December 31st, 2012.

And today we are taking a rest day here at Low Camp. Beautiful weather, no wind, sunny skies. We’ve been training today, practicing to use our ascenders for the fixed line, which we will climb tomorrow on our carry up to High Camp.

So everyone’s doing great, we’re just hanging out, relaxing, enjoying Antarctica. We’ve been eating well today, had a nice long breakfast, french toast this morning and a big dinner tonight and we are looking forward to another great day tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well back home and we will check in soon, thanks.

The Pee Bottle and Pee Funnel

The Flats, Ingraham Glacier, Mount Rainier – 10:00 p.m. It’s the night before your summit push, and you’re lying in your tent wide awake. Your tentmate is fast asleep next to you. Adrenaline and nervous energy made it difficult for you both to settle down after dinner, especially since the Pacific Northwest sun was still […]
