Group 1 spends a rest day at Low Camp building walls and climbing nearby, as group 2 awaits a flight from Union Glacier to Base Camp

Hello, this is Garrett Madison calling in for Alpine Ascents Mount Vinson expedition #2.

Today is Sunday, January 13th and today we took a rest day up at our Low Camp. We spent the day building walls around our tents to fortify our camp from the winds. And we had a nice afternoon, so we went on a short climb to one of the neighboring peaks and back, had some great views. Our plan for tomorrow is to stay here at Low Camp and to do some training regarding fixed line travel.

A few of the members on our expedition are still back in Union Glacier Camp, that’s: Tim, Kionte, Ken, and John, along with Guide Sam. And we’re hoping they’ll be joining us here in the next day or two. Everybody’s doing well; we’re looking forward to some nice weather in the forecast, some decreasing winds. And we’ll check in soon.
