The Pingüinos de la Montaña moved to High Camp looking forward to a relaxing rest day tomorrow

Hello, this is Garrett Madison calling in for the Alpine Ascents Mount Vinson expedition. Today is Thursday, January 17th and we had a great day.

We climbed up to High Camp, both teams. And we moved into High Camp, set up tents, had a nice dinner. And we’re now finally getting to bed about 2:30am on the 17th. So had a great day and looking forward to resting all day on the 17th when we get up, a late breakfast and a leisurely day.

And then our plan is to do our summit climb the following day, on the 18th. So all’s well, everyone’s doing really good here on Vinson and we’ll check in soon.

The Pee Bottle and Pee Funnel

The Flats, Ingraham Glacier, Mount Rainier – 10:00 p.m. It’s the night before your summit push, and you’re lying in your tent wide awake. Your tentmate is fast asleep next to you. Adrenaline and nervous energy made it difficult for you both to settle down after dinner, especially since the Pacific Northwest sun was still […]
