Torrential downpours didn’t dampen the spirits of Team 1 as they hiked to Shira Camp where they ended the day with stroganoff

(transmission garbled)… Team #1…officially today…

It’s about 8 o’clock and we are at Shira Camp (12,500 feet above sea level). We just enjoyed a nice dinner of beef stroganoff, rice, and vegetables followed by a little sweet crepe. We’re going to go to bed because we’re tired.

We experienced torrential downpour today here on Kili, big, wet, torrential… (transmission garbled) but we made it through. We even enjoyed ourselves!

Tomorrow we’re going to make our way up to about 15,000 feet via Lava Tower then down to Barranco Camp, one of the most beautiful camps on the mountain and a big day for acclimatizing for us. Lots of new snow higher on the mountain (transmission garbled).

Everyone’s doing well and sends their love. (transmission garbled)

Usiku mwema (Swahili for “good night”).
