Under blue skies, Alp 8 flew to the Kahiltna Glacier excited as they begin their expedition hiking up to 7,200 feet

Good evening friends and family, this is Phil Marino and Danny Ozment with Alp Team 8 calling you from 7,200 feet on the SE Fork of the Kahiltna Glacier. We flew in today about 3:30 to blue skies and sunshine, kind of feels like a beach right now, not necessarily a cold arctic peak.

Crew just had some dinner, we’re going to bed and getting an early start in the morning to try to beat the heat, probably wake up around 3, hopefully to be on the road around 5 and pull into camp well before noon.

The route looks to be in really good shape and we’re really excited to start our expedition; we’ll check back in with you all tomorrow.
