Everest Base Camp!

We had a great day today and I am happy to write that everyone made it to Everest Base Camp this afternoon. We woke up to another amazing day. After breakfast, wecheaded out, gradually climbing to Gorak Shep. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to arrive at the tea house in Gorak Shep, where we settled in for a lunch of soup and tuna sandwiches. After restocking on calories and water, we headed out again….this time to Everest Base Camp. It took us less than two hours to arrive at base camp. The wind was blowing and clouds blocked the sun. The views were still amazing. We were just chilly as we admired them. We took photos as individuals and as a team and then made our way back to Gorak Shep. Everyone was happy and looking good after tea, snacks, and a nap. We had a delicious Nepali dinner to cap the night off. All is well. We are tucked into bed after a great day!

Gear Review: The North Face Phantom 50 pack

By Mike Hawkins “Man, this is a really great pack…” I said it over and over for months until my wife had finally had enough of it. She had to get one for herself.  While 50 liters is a little small for most multi-day mountaineering and winter ski tours, the small size is plenty versatile […]
