AAI Lead Guide and rockmaster extraordinaire, Seth Timpano, just checked in from the summit of South Early Winter Spire (SEWS) in Washington Pass. They climbed the pinnacle via the ultra-classic South Arete. The route was pretty snowy, even icy in some spots but Joel crushed it. Talk about great training for the Matterhorn! Yesterday, the team was in beautiful, sunny Leavenworth, Washington. In addition to being the state’s favorite (and only) faux Bavarian village, the town is home to exceptional rock climbing along with too many restaurants that feature bratwurst. The shot below is from the top of Icicle Buttress. The pair climbed via R&D, an ultra-classic 5.6 route that has a little bit of everything, including a chimney!
