Aconcagua Team Ramrod Preparations

Hello family and friends,

Today we awoke in Mendoza and spent the morning packing the van with ALL of our gear and food for the trip. We have 12 people total on this trip, so equates to a lot of gear and food.

After the van was packed we purchased our permits from the permit office. The permit office is located in the Parque San Martin, this is Mendoza’s nicest and biggest city park. In some ways it reminds me of Central Park in New York City.

We drove 2 hrs to a small town called Ushpallata for a late lunch. We are at one of Juan’s friend’s restaurants, Don Elias. They cooked up a traditional asado with an assortment of Argentina’s most classic cuts of beef.

After lunch we continued our journey to Los Penitnetes, our final destination for the day. Penitentes is a small semi abandoned ski town that marks the start of our 3 day trek to base camp.

We are currently enjoying another delicious meal with great people, delicious food and local wine from the region.
