We enter the high Khumbu

Namaste Friends, Family and loved ones,

Temperature has dropped to below freezing bringing clear skies. We had an awesome trek over the glacial moraines to the highest habitation on our route (over 5000 meters). Gorak Shep is surrounded by some of the finest mountain scenery in the world. We are taking hundreds of photos.

After a sustaining lunch of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches we tackled the mountain behind town. Kala Pata stands at 5545 meters (18,188 feet) and makes a perfect viewing platform for experiencing the wonder of the high Himalaya.

The team is doing well despite the challenges of dealing with the challenges of altitude. All are looking forward to going to Everest base camp tomorrow. So stay tuned for the further adventures of the Pied Hikers.

All our best,Carole & Vern Tejas
