Gonzalo Quiroga
Gonzalo has more than 27 consecutive seasons of work on Aconcagua. Prior to his over twenty year career guiding Aconcagua, Gonzalo has taken on many roles and responsibilities tied to producing successful expeditions, including the mountain cleaning project In addition to 20-plus years as a lead guide in the mountain, he has taken on various roles and positions, such as the mountain cleaning project. Before guiding with Alpine Ascents, Gonzalo began guiding trekking expeditions and assisting groups on high altitude peaks. He advanced quickly and soon became a skilled lead guide, with over 3o summits of Aconcagua to his credit. Over the years, Gonzalo has supported over 80 successful expeditions to the highest peak in the Americas.
Deeply committed to both mountain conservation and the well-being of the people he guides, his primary focus is on mountain safety. He is also dedicated to fostering meaningful connection with the beauty of the mountains, and strives to take care of them. Outside of his mountain pursuits, he enjoys time with his four children, as well as mountain biking, rock climbing, snowboarding, kayaking, and other disciplines. Since 2012, he has served as the director of El Muro Mendoza, a climbing gym located in the city of Mendoza. This gym provides a space for locals and foreigners to practice and learn sport climbing technique.
