Summit party climbs to Machame camp
Jambo friends, family and loved ones,
Our climb began this morning at the Machame entrance gate.
We climbed 4000 feet in about five hours. In the process will you send it through three distinct bio zones. Initially we we’re surrounded by rainforest which fortunately was in dry season. Then up into cloud forest which ultimately gave way to a forest of giant Heathers and camp.
We’re camping at approximately 10,000 feet and through we can feel the altitude everyone is doing welll. Tomorrow we’ll push on up to Shira camp. Please join us.

We had a delightful sunset last night.
We said goodbye to Katanga camp as we moved out this morning.
We really gained elevation today as we floated up a long ridge on our way to Barafu camp. We also left Barafu in favor of a higher summit camp.
All our best,Vern Tejas
