Volcanoes of Mexico Testimonials

Great experience pushing our climbing skills to the next level. Everything about the Volcanoes of Mexico climb was perfectly arranged from booking to climbing. AAI’s logistics, high altitude acclimation, guides, local knowledge and contacts, climbing safety, and team building continue to be #1.

2020 Climber

This is my fifth climb with Alpine Ascents, and our first international mountain climb. AAI continues to be the industry leader in climbing. The care everyone takes to prepare us for the climb, the emphasis on safety, and attention given to every detail of the trip are highlights for me. I have climbed domestically with other companies, and have I seen what appear to be forced group marches up mountains lead by other guiding companies, that’s not my experience with AAI. Top notch, world class guides, personal service and attention, and a focus on climber safety are the hallmarks of AAI. The Volcanoes of Mexico did not disappoint. Thanks for another great experience, we will be back.

2020 Climber

It was hard and dirty. It was fun. The guides were great. My fellow team mates were awesome. Our guide was a great cook, and we ate well. The hotels were perfect, the logistics seamless. This was my first international expedition, and presented a great learning opportunity. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

2020 Climber

Our guide did a great job of setting expectations that were both realistic and encouraging. He was able to set the tone and gave constructive comments throughout the climbing to help in our ascent and descent. From gear to technique, I felt confident in his opinion and instruction. The 3 guides from OMG were also great and very helpful.

2019 Climber

Our guide was excellent! He was very approachable, knowledgeable, patient and added great energy to the group. I would highly recommend anyone join any of his future climbs.

2019 Climber

I had a great time on the expedition. The mountains were beautiful and challenging and the cultural tour was an unexpected extra! The trip plan made sense, giving us a enough time to acclimatize, have a great opportunity to successfully summit the mountains and recover in between.

2019 Climber

This is my 2nd experience with Alpine Ascents and I would definitely do a 3rd! Speaking to some of the climbers we met with other companies on this trip, I can say that our itinerary was very well thought out. We were given a great opportunity to summit both mountains by having the appropriate time to climb and rest. I really enjoyed the cultural experience. I give great credit to our guide for his direction and leadership to making this a great experience. The addition of our tour guide, Arnoldo, and the support guides from OMG made for an awesome trip. Thank you!

2019 Climber

The trip was highly enjoyable. Good mix of touring and experiencing the local culture, as well as preparing and executing objectives. Our guide was highly knowledgeable and capable. His guiding experience and ability to make well-informed decisions on the mountain inspired confidence. The program is perfect as is. I’d recommend it to friends.

2018 Climber

The trip was great! Stuart was great and was very informative with climbing and the routes we were going to take. The tours throughout the city were very informative and provided a nice recovery day after climbing. Stuart was great throughout the whole trip. He answered any climbing questions and made the trip overall very fun. Even when we were at camp there was never a boring moment. I am climbing Denali with Alpine Ascents in May of 2017 and he was very helpful in preparing me for that trip even more. Everything from rope teams to crampon foot work was talked about and any questions were thoroughly answered. There was never a problem getting along with Stuart. The atmosphere was always open for a carefree environment while still having a professional attitude while climbing. The gear department was great about answering any questions concerning the gear list. There were never any issues involving payment or the application. The training statements and reminders were helpful. The lodging on the trip was very nice. The hotel in Puebla was very clean and had many options to eat in the surrounding area. The huts that we stayed at were good for the purpose. The group gear and the tents were nice. The food choices were good and I was never hungry on the mountain or in the cities. Overall the trip was great.

2016 Climber

Great time on the climbs. Challenging ascent climb, different culture and area, short duration – which fit into my schedule nicely this time of year. Stuart is a pro. Solid in all respects. He gives freedom to make decisions, facilitates learning, and challenges each of us as appropriate. I have confidence in our approach through Stu’s leadership. I learned new ways to harness the mental power we each possess. Stuart instructed me in techniques new to me regarding breathing, head aches, and high altitude self care. Pros: short duration makes easier to find time to do this climb; good solid climbs with challenging summit pushes; guide makes all the difference.
