Mount Elbrus Testimonials

I thoroughly enjoyed this expedition and look forward to taking another expedition with Alpine Ascents in the very near future (already planning out my next climb!). This was my first time taking a trip with Alpine Ascents, having used another company in the past. I was very pleased, and plan on using Alpine Ascents for my future climb adventures.

All the lodgings and logistics for this trip were excellent. I was very pleased with the attention to detail with regard to our hotels, meals and travel arrangements during the trip.

Again, flawless. Among other reasons too, I climb with AAI because you guys “get it right” consistently. I value that, a lot!

2019 Climber

We made it to the top of Europe! Our Mount Elbrus experience was memorable and rewarding.

Enjoyed this trip very much. Great group of people and excellent itinerary. Great hotels in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Terskol. Lodge on the mountain also good. But the true strength of the program is the guides. This was my ninth AAI trip and I am always impressed with the guides and their ability to teach.

Heart of Elbrus Hut – Excellent facility. Good dining room space, common area and boot room. Spacious bunk rooms.

2018 Climber

As for accommodations on the mountain, it was the best we could have asked for on a mountain.

Excellent quality. Almost luxurious.

I must congratulate you on running a first-class operation, from top to bottom. When looking around for an Elbrus outfitter, I reviewed several companies, and your safety and summit success records spoke for themselves.

One of the best expeditions I have been on. Both guides did an excellent job – logistics, instructions and safety. Vern was excellent both on and off the mountain. We had a last-minute issue with availability of drinking water on leaprus. Vern organized and bought sufficient water for the trip the morning we were departing for leaprus. Also, he made an excellent call of waiting out a night for the weather to improve to make the summit push. I have been to 4 snow schools and this was by far the best. I have aspirations for climbing Denali and I am convinced I should go with Vern.

Lodging in St. Petersburg, Moscow were good. I particularly liked the lodge and hosts in Terkskol. Goes without saying Leaprus Hut made the time on the mountain very enjoyable.

Excellent program.

  • Crevasse Rescue Clinic: A Lesson in the Power of Practice

By Anna Gibson I was fortunate to spend my childhood in northwestern Wyoming, with the Tetons just out my front door. Those mountains are the real-deal—truly an epic playground for a mountain runner and a backcountry skier like me. Yet the Teepee, Schoolroom, and Skillet Glaciers of the Tetons are dwarfs compared to the glaciers […]
