Salkantay Mountain Trek to Machu Picchu Testimonials

Miguel was excellent! Very organized, he went above and beyond when I arrived late (flight cancellations) and without my gear bag (did not arrive with me), to assure my gear was delivered to the proper place when it finally arrived in Cusco. We had briefing every evening to know how to plan and what to expect for the next day

It was a most enjoyable adventure with informed, competent guides Javier and Anna leading the way. It was fantastic. Every day was special. Javier knows the local flora, fauna, the people and the mountains. He was very good at passing this information on to us while we were trekking.

Javier was brilliant and superb! And Anna was wonderful! Best guide combo we’ve encountered. . . Big kudos to you and AAI!

Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my trek to Machu Picchu. Not only was the trek itself a fun challenge but learning about the Inca culture along was a wonderful added bonus. As always, Carole and Vern were wonderful leaders. I feel safe when I am with them. They are always looking out for our group and have our best interest in heart. Carole and Vern are effective communicators, from the importance of hydration, eating, pressure breathing, to reminding us to smile and enjoy the day. They did it all and I was so very glad to have them as our guides. Our guides, Carole and Vern were exceptionally sweet and easy to get along with. They went out of their way to ensure we were safe and that we had an enjoyable trek. The biggest strength of this program/trek is your guides, Carole and Vern. They work to ensure our safety, are fun, helpful and informative. What an awesome combination!!!

Yes – it was great.  Particularly enjoyed the hikes, cultural experiences, lodges, guide quality. Ben did a great job teaching the group high altitude techniques -breathing, rest step, hydration, etc.

This is really a very, very nice, upscale trekking experience and I really enjoyed it. Treking around the Peruvian Andes was fabulous.  Days trekking were just long enough so you could sit back and enjoy the wonderful lodge facilities every day.

Ben was a particularly effective leader. The three made a great team – Ben providing the leadership, Admil the local knowledge (which was amazingly broad) and Yosif helping with individual issues.  Admil was never at a loss when asked about local flora or fauna – if he did not know (rarely), he provided  the answer from one of his books. Ben was the go-to guy for issues with altitude and trekking. They made a great team. Admil’s English was flawless by the way.

Overall quality of the trip was fantastic.  Just enough trekking to enjoy the mtns but also have some downtime to allow for people to relax and enjoy other things.  Quality of the food and lodging first rate.  Demeanor of the guides were excellent.  Mountain lodges or peru guide super knowledgeable. No weakness.

It was fantastic. Will definitely recommend it to friends. Cannot imagine it being any better. One particularly unexpected but delightful experience was the 2 hour train ride from Aguas Calientes – the scenery was absolutely spectacular.
