Team 10 moves up to Camp 1 happy to have the mountain all to themselves with a bit of snow

Hi, this is Garrett Madison calling in for Alpine Ascents Aconcagua Expedition #10. Today is Thursday, February 15 [sic] and we have moved up to our Camp 1.

Everyone’s doing well and we’re up here at the Camp 1 getting ready to have dinner. It’s snowing and not too windy, so really nice day. And we’re excited for our day tomorrow. We’re going to carry up to our Camp 2. So yeah, we’re happy to be here. No one else is around us on the mountain; we’ve got it all to ourselves. And we’re all feeling good.

We’ll check in soon.

Delicious barbecue dinner over an open fire for Team Pelado at their second camp Casa de Piedra

Hello there friends, family, and loved ones. This is Team Pelado.

We had a great day today. We moved all the way up to our second Camp on the trek, which is called Casa de Piedra; it means “the rock house”. We moved quite well during the day. People are feeling the altitude but still being able to feel comfortable moving and that’s a great sign.

We had a beautiful barbecue dinner, big chunks of meat, lots of chicken, corn, all roasted on an open fire, very much like the arrieros, the mule drivers here, the cowboys of Argentina. This is a windy camp we picked, but everybody’s getting the hang of how to put up the tents correctly for the wind so I’m not worried about blowing away tonight.

Anyway, stay tuned. Tomorrow we’re going to head to Base Camp. So ciao for now from Argentina.

The final team of the season enjoys the gastronomic pleasures in Mendoza as they prepare to depart for the mountain.

Hello there friends family and loved ones, this is Vern Tejas reporting in for the last Aconcagua trip of the season for Alpine Ascents. All of our team members have made it to lovely, beautiful, downtown Mendoza. Great dinner, enjoying the local specialties here, the wine, the steak, the great seafood, and the great salads, just kind of enjoying the pleasures of good gastronomy while we are here in town, because we soon know that we will be in the mountains and we won’t be able to enjoy all this freshness.

So, team looks strong, and everybody is psyched up, ready to rock and roll. And if you were to listen here on pretty much a daily basis, I’ll be reporting in as our progress to climb the highest mountain in South America takes place. So please join us and stay tuned for the further adventures of the Last Team, we’ll talk to you soon, ta ta for now.
