Aconcagua Cybercasts: February 2014

The Chupacabras are back in sunny Mendoza celebrating their great adventure with a steak dinner

Hi, this is Matthew Emht reporting for Aconcagua Team 7/The Chupacabras. This will be our final cybercast. Today is February 1st and the Team made it back to Mendoza yesterday. We had a nice drive back into town and went out for a really nice steak and veggie dinner last night.

The day before, we hiked out from Plaza Mulas; took us about eight hours with some breaks and a long lunch break at Confluencia. But all in all it went pretty well.

Nice sunny day, a little bit of a breeze, not dusty, but not too oppressively hot either right now in Mendoza; I’m looking at a hot, sunny day as usual, nice summer streets out here. And good to be back down low in the thick air and warm temps.

The whole Team has arrived to Mendoza. Everybody is doing well, got all their baggage. And have been thinking about friends and family and the end of our great adventure. Thanks a lot for following along with us and we’ll keep you posted next time we’re up in the mountains. Take care.

Clear skies but still high winds for Team Fat Chance as they spend the day acclimatizing at Camp 3

Hey everybody, this is Tom from Team Fat Chance. Thanks for following along with our cybercasts.

Today we had an acclimatization day, preparing us for our move up to High Camp tomorrow. The weather is clear, but the winds are high and the temperatures are low. We’ll move up to High Camp tomorrow. We’ll be ready to wait and go for the summit whenever the wind dies down, which is forecast to be on Tuesday, the 4th of February. So we’ll just wait and see.

Everyone is happy and well and as always, we send our love to everybody back home. And we’ll be in touch tomorrow from High Camp.
