Kelvin is from the Chagga tribe and was born in Kilimanjaro Region, near to Marangu Village. He is part of 5 children of the Makere Family. Kelvin has been working as a chef for over 10 years with over 32 summits of the mountains via several different routes.
Kelvin works as the lead chef for all regularly scheduled Alpine Ascents Teams for the last 7 years. He is known for his hard work, attention to detail for our climbers and his excellent, healthy cuisine. He is famous for his soups, always the first course at dinner. As lead chef Kelvin oversees all of the food purchasing and resupplies for the team, in addition to all of the work in his mountain kitchen. Kelvin and the kitchen crew enjoy when the climbers visit and learn about what is happening in the busiest tent in camp!
Kelvin lives in Arusha with his wife and 2 children. His daughter is his first born at 14 years and his son is the second born at 10 years. Both are busy with their education at good schools.
