Ruben Barrera
Ruben Barrera has spent over 25 years guiding Aconcagua and other major mountains of Argentina and South America, racking up over 20 summits of the highest peak in the Americas. Widely known in the local mountain world for his professional guiding skills and charisma, his mountain guide work takes place year round in other large mountains such as Ojos del Salado (22,615 feet), Mount Pissis (22,286 feet), Incahuasi (21,722 feet), Cerro Tres Cruces (22,122 feet) and the biggest mountains of Mendoza such as Cerro Plata (19,685 feet) and Vallecitos (18,044 feet). Since joining Alpine Ascents, he’s become known for running seamless expeditions and fostering tight knit groups. He is also a passionate trekker and will climb every mountain that he can. Ruben has a great appreciation for simple tours with great views that everyone can enjoy. When not guiding, he is an accomplished outdoor photographer, taking pictures from every place he visits all over Latin America.
