8 Day Rainier | Taquoma Mountaineering Course Testimonials

Had a wonderful time on the course. Instructors were knowledgeable and the course was jam packed with new skills. The introduction and exposure to these skills are the greatest assets — to let me know how much more there is to learn.

The course was very fun. Each lesson we learned allowed time for repetition and practice. I feel confident I can use all these skills in the future.

I did enjoy the course and learned a lot. Coming from the east coast, mountains like Mount Rainier don’t exist, so each day being in a new place – tackling new challenges – my confidence grew.

The program was stellar. From arrival to gear check to the summit and back, we were led by experts who were truly interested in teaching us what we needed to know to become successful, safe and environmental conscious mountaineers. The itinerary was challenging but well thought out. Guides were phenomenal and educational content was strong.

I thoroughly enjoyed my course experience with Alpine Ascents. Coming into this course I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect but after finishing I truly appreciate how much of my experience was a mountaineering school.  I felt that every day I was learning a wealth of knowledge that I can use in future climbs to help my experience both safer and more enjoyable.

I did enjoy the course.  Outdoors activities, and particularly mountaineering, are very new to me, so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the course.  I feel that the course gave me a good foundation from which I can either pursue more climbing, or from which I can pursue more training now that I understand what sorts of things I need to know.  I can use many of the skills immediately (walking on snow/ice, self-arrest, knot tying, building snow anchors)

Both our guides were able to clearly explain the concepts, teach the skills, and give us the hands on experience/practice to imprint the lessons clearly. I also appreciated their willingness to take the extra time with those who needed more practice as well as show the next level of complexity to those who had grasped the basic skills. They were inclusive and very open to adjusting the course to what the group wanted from the experience.

Yes, great course, excellent guides, valuable information presented in an easy to understand method. I felt prepared for the summit and moreover prepared in case we needed to use our rescue skills in a real life situation. Also, the way that the information was taught from the fundamentals up was clear and easy to follow.

My experience was great. I felt that the course has given me all the skills and experience needed to take the next steps in my backcountry carreer.

I was very pleased with the ability of our guides to effectively manage the people and individual skill sets of our team. They provided direction when necessary and also allowed the clients to create a good group dynamic and lead ourselves when appropriate.
