“Last Seconders” working hard, eating well at 14 Camp
The Last Seconders crawled out of their tents when the light hit their tents at 14k ft. It was a bitter cold night. Our instruments said the air temperature was -6F at dawn. We had a brunch of endless French toast. Some team members remarked it was the coldest night they had spent yet in their lives.
We laid all of our gear on our tents and dried bags and boots and jackets inundated by the week of foul weather. We trained for 4 hours on ascension and descending the fixed lines. We had an all-you-can-eat steak dinner with taters and soup and still had 5 pounds of frozen steaks left. I warned them they would all get the beef sweats!
