Mongolia Team Tours Town
Friends, family & loved ones,
On our last day in Ulaan Bataar before leaving for the mountains, we visited some of the town’s major sites.
The first stop on our tour was the Gandan Monastery, translated from Mongolian as “The Great Place of Complete Joy”—love that name.
Buddhism is widely practiced in Mongolia and the monastery is the largest in the country.

In addition to several temples and monks’ residences, the monastery houses a 26 meter gold-leaf statue of the Buddha of Compassion. We were told that this is the largest indoor statue in the world. Impressive.

We spent some time in the National Museum and then went to a cultural performance, which sounds cheesy but the dancing and local music was really great and we all enjoyed it.

We had some time for last minute errands and packing before our 4 am departure tomorrow (yikes!). The Team is excited to get out into the field!
Thanks for following,
Vern Tejas
