Team BEST Treks to Laya
Friends, family & loved ones,
On our last full day of trekking, we descended a couple thousand feet to the village of Laya. The trail through the forest was very beautiful and lush with fir and cedar trees and lots of wildflowers. We crossed a couple of bridges and stopped to take photos of waterfalls pouring down the sides of the canyon.
Laya is by far the largest village in the area, with more than 100 houses. Some of us explored the town, which has a large school and several shops selling basic necessities.
The Team is doing great and especially enjoying the thicker air down here but we can’t believe that the trekking portion of this trip is almost over.
One more short day of hiking down to the trailhead and then we will make our way to Gasa and the hot springs.
