Team Friends on a Summit Day Makes a Summit Attempt

Posted on January 19, 2025 | Cybercasts

Today we attempted the summit of Aconcagua. Conditions have been very difficult recently with lots of new snow on the mountain, wind, cold temperatures and accumulated drifted snow. The team worked hard as we opened a new trail up the mountain through deep wind blown snow. At 22,000 ft we had to make the decision to turn around due to avalanche risk higher up on the mountain. One of the toughest decisions on a summit day is to make the call to not continue to the summit, but today that was the right call to make. We will descend to Plaza de Mulas tomorrow.

Saludos,

Rachel
