The December 26th Vinson Expedition Begins!
Hello from Punta Arenas Chile and thank you for following the 2025 Vinson cybercast! Our team of 7 international climbers have overcome holiday craziness and delayed flights to arrive in South America.
Yesterday the team met for the first time. We did our orientation and an extensive gear check followed by a massive dinner of steaks and local seafood. This morning the team handed off hundreds of pounds of luggage/gear for Antarctica and we met climbers from all over the world who will be joining us on Mt. Vinson. We wrapped up the evening at the historic Shackelton Bar. Over dinner, the team received the wonderful news that we should be able to fly to Antarctica in the morning! The flight is weather dependent, but for now the forecast looks great and the team is extremely excited to leave the city behind and begin our journey to Antarctica’s highest point.
We have a great team of strong, super prepared climbers on this trip, and we are all psyched to get down to the Ice. Thank you to everyone who helped them get here and for following them on their adventure!
Cheers
Don
