The team summits Sierra Negra and heads to Orizaba BC

Happy New Year! We rang in 2026 with piñatas, firecrackers, and lots of laughing at the Orizaba Mountain Guides compound in Zoapan at 10,000’. While our team is very strong when it comes to mountain climbing, it’s clear that none of us played baseball- it took us lots of tries to break the piñatas!

We woke up early to kick off the new year by climbing Sierra Negra (15,200’) and we had stunning views of Orizaba the whole way. After breathing some thin air on the summit we came down, returned to Orizaba Mountain Guides to organize our things and then jumped in 4×4 cars to head to Orizaba Base Camp, where we’ll be for the next couple of days.
