Pakistan Trek Gear List
Guide Recommendations
Here are some additional Guide recommendations for the Pakistan Trek in addition to the gear list/rental form below. Quantities recommended here supercede those below. This trip has a lot of travel days where there is some driving, local village visits, and 1 hr to 1/2 day treks. All of these days you will be in running shoes, long pants and a long sleeve safari type shirt.
- For Socks, I recommend 4 Pairs of medium hiking socks for the overnight treks (2 treks – 3 days each). I also recommend an additional 4 pairs of light socks for day treks and travel days. Lighter socks will dry easier if hand washing in hotels.
- For the Short Underwear – although 2-3 are recommended below, I recommend bringing 2-4 pairs for the overnight treks (2 treks – 3 days each) AND 4-6 pairs for day treks and travel days (total of 6-10 pairs). Synthetic or wool fabrics only for trekking days. Synthetic fabrics will dry much easier if washing in hotels.
- In addition to the Long Sleeve Sun Shirt, I recommend bringing 1-2 long sleeve synthetic collared safari shirts for hot weather. You will use this on many or all of the town/travel/cultural tour days and when dining out. Should be lightweight, easily washable and quick drying. This was one of my most-used and hand-washed items. In many areas while not trekking it is not culturally acceptable to wear short sleeves, especially for women.
- Rather than 1 pair, I recommend 3 pairs of Lightweight Synthetic Hiking pants. Lightweight and easily washable. This will be your go to pant layer every day while trekking or traveling. Should fit over a base layer for overnight trips.
- For your Toiletries Bag, I recommend bringing two systems. One for travel and hotel nights (most of trip) and a 2nd lightweight one for the 6 days of overnight trekking.

From Kilimanjaro: t was without a doubt the most enjoyable expedition I have been a part of. From the beginning to end, the level of competency, attention to detail, knowledge base, and guideship was top notch. Not only was Eric Murphy a pillar of knowledge, the Tanzanian crew were clearly a cut above the other outfits crews.
