There have historically been fewer women than men in mountain sports, but that statistic has been changing as more women establish first ascents, inspire others by summiting challenging peaks and find cohorts of other women climbers.
At Alpine Ascents we are fortunate to have more than 25 female guides and offer dozens of women’s programs. Providing these trips is yet another step towards connecting women who are interested in mountain sports.
On January 12, 2023 Lead Guide Brooke Warren, hosted a webinar covering female-specific logistics ranging from the complexities of peeing in a harness and feminine hygiene on expeditions to finding gear for smaller statures and tips for reducing pack weight. We wrapped up the webinar with a Q&A answering questions about what to do with your hair, great mountain snacks, and the logistics of dealing with menstrual waste.

WOMEN’S CLIMBS
This webinar was a woman-focused event that intends an inclusive definition of women. We are welcoming and respectful of women, including trans women and those that are nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and any others who identify as a woman in a way that is significant to them. Much of the content of this webinar is also helpful to anyone who wants to support their female partners in the mountains or who identify as a man.
