Camp 1

Hello Everyone,

We made it camp 1 (21,000ft) today in mostly cloudy skies but pleasant travel weather. By the time we arrived in camp in has started to lightly snow, which was forecasted. We just finished up dinner and we are heading off to bed. Tomorrow we will head to camp 2 (~23,000ft) for the first time and will spend one night before heading back down to ABC.

Below is a picture looking out of our tent at the snow?.

Talk to you soon,

Ben

Rest day before second rotation

Help Everyone,

It was a mostly snowy rest day today here in ABC. We had a lot of rest, reading, card playing, and recovering before we head back up to camp 1 tomorrow. Gopal served us some great meals, but not a lot of excitement here today. Tomorrow after breakfast we will head up to camp 1 for one night and then continue up to camp 2 for our first time and for one night before heading all the way back down to ABC. That will be our last rotation on the mountain before we head up for our summit bid. The rest had been beneficial here giving our bodies time to recover, and to get healthy before heading back to the higher altitudes. We’ve had some coughs and head colds go around but we are getting healthier. Everyone is doing pretty well adjusting and acclimatizing to the altitude, so it’s time to head back up. We’ll keep you posted in the next couple of days!

Thanks for following along,

Ben

Rest day

Hello Everyone,

These pictures about sum up a rest day around ABC: Laundry, reading, relaxing, and resting. It’s been the usual weather pattern with sun in the morning, turning to snow showers and partly cloudy in the afternoon. We’ll have one more of these days tomorrow before we head back up on the mountain. These rest days are actually essential for our bodies to recover, acclimatize, and continue producing red blood cells for higher on the mountain!

Thanks for following along!

Back at ABC

Hello Everyone,

Today we woke to more beautiful skies at camp 1. After a pancake breakfast we packed up and started the 3 or so hour decent back down to ABC. We arrived for another good lunch from Gopal, took showers, and relaxed the rest of the day here at ABC. We are all looking forward to a good nights sleep at lower elevation and a rest day tomorrow. In the next couple of days we will head back up the mountain for our second rotation.

Thanks for following!

Ben

I had an excellent time during the entire expedition. From the moment I met Jiban and our guides at the Yak & Yeti, and our Sherpas later on, I felt we had the best people for this adventure.
