Cry Babies acclimatize.

It ’twas a casual morning for the Babies as we hike to the wee village off Cheget. We rode the archaic chairlift up to 9,000ft. So we could train at altitude. As we trekked higher, we discussed foot placement, proper pacing and pressure breathing.

We also covered navigation and glaciologist as we climbed up Cheget ridge.

We practiced glass axing on the way down.

We finished of the day by celebrating Nicks 35th birthday.

Fun was had by all.

All our best,
Carole and Vern Tejas

Team Travels to Terskol

> Friends, family & loved ones,
>
> Today was a day of endurance training and the entire team proved their metal: After we checked out of our St Petersburg hotel at 10 am this morning, we toured the highlights of the world famous Hermitage Museum with our expert, very Russian guide Luba. Then we headed to the airport, where we enjoyed another very Russian experience of checking in our many bags of gear at a Russian airport. After a short flight delay, we took off and landed in Mineral Vody. The flight was smooth, notwithstanding the incredible number of crying babies on board! Now known as Team Cry Babies, we then began the last leg of our journey to the mountain, the drive to Terskol, fortified by some local ice cream and snacks. The team was tired from the really long day (and really loud flight!) — but still in good humor– when we arrived at our hotel at about 11:15 pm. We had a quick dinner and now to bed. Really excited to wake up tomorrow morning in the beautiful Baksan Valley! Apologies for not including photos today. We have minimal bandwidth but we will try again tomorrow.

Team tours St Pete.

Friends, family & loved ones,

Sight seeing in St Petersburg is delightful especially when it’s sunny. We went to the very tall Peter and Paul’s cathedral.

We listened to the noon guns go off. Loud and impressive.

We did not want to stay long at the political prison.

Then went and redeemed our selves at the Church of the spilt blood.

And topped off the day with a scrumptious Stroganoff dinner.

All our best,
Carole & Vern Tejas

Team meets in Russia

Hello friends, family and loved ones,

The our rendezvous in St Petersburg Russia is underway. We’ve made introductions and had a great dinner while getting to know each other. The team is here to have a crack at climbing Europe’s highest mountain,
Mount Elbrus. At 18,510 feet above sea level, this dormant glaciated volcano will be a quite a challenge. This team though, looks strong and up for the challenge.

Spirits are running high after our fine meal. So come along with us for an adventure of a lifetime.

All our best,
Carole & Vern Tejas

All my best,
Vern Tejas

Team does Moscow

Friends, family and loved ones,

We have been up to our Elbrus in Touring the sights of Moscow. Red Square at night is a delight.

As the center of town and the largest country in the world, the whole area pulses with a vitality that is palpable.

Four Horse fountain was one of our favorite places to hang.

And we finished off our tour and adventure at one of the world’s finest eateries, The White Rabbit restaurant.

Thank you for following our adventure for these past few weeks!

And the wonderful Team Up To Our Elbrus.

Excellent. Communication and interface with the AAI office and staff was easy and prompt. Information and direction was always available through the months leading up to the departure date.
