Island Peak 2019 – Summit Recap!

Namaste friends, family and loved ones,

We were up at 2:30am under a star filled sky. After hours of scrambling we got onto the glacier. The upper head wall was particularly steep.

The view from the summit was spectacular!

We had a very full day as we then descended to the remote village of Chukung and proceeded to gorge ourselves. Fun was had by all!

All our best, Vern Tejas and the Klimbers

Island Peak 2019 – Going For It!

Namaste friends, family and loved ones!

What a glorious morning we are having. This bodes well for tomorrow’s attempt to climb to the summit of Imja tse or Island peak. Below is pictured sunrise over Imja Tse with winds off of Lhotse!

All members are rested and excited for our Alpine start at 3:00 am on the 11th. And it looks like the weather may cooperate. So we’ll kiss civilization goodbye and begin our adventure!

We are off!

All our best,Vern Tejas and the Klimbers

EBC Trek 2019 – Khumbu Trekkers Return to KTM

Namaste Everyone,

Greetings from the big city of Kathmandu. It’s a bit of sensory overload after the tranquillity and greenery of the Khumbu Valley, but we are embracing the mayhem nonetheless. We had a smooth and scenic helicopter flight from Lukla to Kathmandu this morning. It was an exciting finish to our trip.

Tomorrow we’ll spend some free time exploring the city and then meet up for one last dinner as a team.

Thanks for following us!

EBC Trek 2019 – Khumbu Trekkers Finish Strong

Namaste Everyone,

We are interrupting a lively game of cards and a celebratory beer to let you all know that we finished our trek today strong and in style.

We had another day of stellar weather and really enjoyed the amble from Phakding back to Lukla. We took our time, stopping along the way for tea and a close-up view of the 21,700 foot summit of Thamserku. The going was easy….except for Adam’s minor boot issue (picture below)! Once in Lukla, we moved smoothly from lunch to coffees and dessert at the Illy Cafe; to dinner and that celebratory beer. We’ve been doing very well on the culinary front.

Fingers crossed for good weather tomorrow and an early helicopter flight to Kathmandu.

Carole Tejas

Very enjoyable. The trip exceeded my expectations – and I had high expectations. [The guides] were both very knowledgeable and very passionate about the people, culture and area.
