Spring 2016 Trek to Everest Base Camp Begins

Hello There Friends, Family and Loved Ones,

Namaste and welcome to our coverage of Alpine Ascents’ Spring 2016 Everest Base Camp Trek. All of the team members and all of their gear have arrived safely in Kathmandu. Everybody is a bit jet-lagged, but very excited to be here.

We met as a group this evening for an orientation meeting and team dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant. For dinner, we all had an upscale version of dal bhat, which consists of dal (similar to lentil soup), bhat (rice), curry, spinach and a variety of spicy and not-so-spicy condiments. It was a delicious introduction to a meal that the locals here eat almost every day. Tomorrow we are planning to check out some of the highlights of Kathmandu and make sure that everyone has all of their gear sorted in anticipation of our departure to Lukla the following day.

We will do our best to keep you up to date on our trek to Base camp and we will try to post photos where technology (and bandwidth) permit. Thanks for following us!

Phakding-Lukla-Kathmandu

Hello Everyone,

We are all back safe and sound to Kathmandu and are relaxing at the Yak and Yeti hotel! We are back one day early, but everyone was ready to be back in Kathmandu after a great trip. I will get a couple pics out tomorrow from the trek but it was a great group and another great trek to basecamp! Thanks to Kathy, Lori, and Dave for a fun trek! It was a quiet trekking season in Nepal this Fall but hope to see many people return in the Spring! Nepal needs us to keep returning, trekking, and climbing!

Thanks for following!

Deboche to Namche

Hello Everyone,

Today we trekked from Deboche to Namche and had beautiful weather! It was our last day to get some great views of Everest as we have started descending to the lower elevations. It’s always pleasant returning back to Namche and our favorite tea house the Panorama lodge. We got here in the early afternoon and some of us explored the big city of Namche and a couple stayed back, took showers and relaxed in the lodge. I’ve got some more pictures to share with you the next couple of days but might not be able to until we get back to Kathmandu in a couple days. Everyone is feeling much better with being back down at 11,300ft, and feeling much lower than the first time here! Tomorrow we trek to Phakding and then onto Lukla the following day. Thanks for following along!

Fantastic! It was everything I had hoped for and more! I wanted to thank you and Alpine Ascents for a wonderful trip to Everest Base Camp! I wish I were back in the Khumbu! The itinerary was perfect! It allowed plenty of time to acclimate and I felt stronger as we got to higher altitude.
