Aconcagua Cybercast

We are at the base camp, Plaza de Mulas. Today was our rest day. We took a shower, spent time relaxing in the dome, enjoyed delicious meals, saw the gorgeous lagoon, and walked near a huge Penitentes field. Today was very fun and relaxing. One more day in Plaza de Mulas.

Tomorrow we’re going straight to Mendoza. It’s going to be a fun hike to the main entrance of Aconcagua Park.

Today, everybody moved to Camp 3, Colera, our last camp before the summit. Our altitude is 5970 meters or 19586 feet. We ate pasta and a delicious soup. The day was windy and cold, but we pushed to arrive here. Everyone feels very good, and tomorrow we will attempt the summit.

Today was a gorgeous day. We practiced walking with crampons on the glacier and practiced self-arrest too. It was very fun playing on the glacier. The day was a little bit windy and cold; for this reason, we changed the carry day to a practice day. Everyone did very well; they felt very strong. Tomorrow we will decide to move to the next camp, Colera, our Camp 3, and attempt the summit the day after. We see an opportunity for that; now the weather looks better.

Now we are staying in Camp 2, the real name of which is Camp 3 of Guanacos, but everyone uses Camp 2. Our altitude is now 5400 meters or 17716 feet. We arrived in good time and shape. Everyone feels very good. We had a pasta night today. Tomorrow, our idea is to go to Camp 3 Colera and reach 6000 meters or 19685 feet to acclimatize.
