Rest day in ABC

Hello Everyone,

Today was another rest day here in ABC. It snowed most of the day here but with a few glimpses of the mountain as the clouds rolled through. We have a bug going through camp the last few days. It seems to only be lasting 24 hours or so and most of the team is on the mend at this point.

Tomorrow we will do our Puja ceremony, which is a Buddhist blessing ceremony for safe passage up and down Cho Oyu and in the mountains. It’s always an important and fun part of Himalayan climbing. After tomorrow we hope to start up the mountain in the next few days beginning our acclimatization rotations.

Below is a photo of Lakpa, Gopal, Ang Nuru, and Nima watching and playing a Nepalese game that translates to Tigers Moving.

Thanks for following along!

Settling into ABC

Hello Everyone,

Today was a day of rest and organization for the climbers. The crew did a lot of work moving rocks, building countertops, and making the kitchen and dining tent very level and comfortable. I have a short video of the camp that I will try and post soon. The photos below are of Lakpa Rita writing down the weights of all of our gear to be transported to intermediate camp by dump truck, and then by yak to ABC. The other photo is obvious, but is of yaks about to be packed with our gear to ABC. Tomorrow we will start in on some skills review and some more relaxing and acclimatizing. Thanks for following!

Intermediate camp to ABC

Today we arrived to ABC at 18,700ft! It was a nice hike most the 4 1/2 hours and then it snowed most of the afternoon, but is now clearing as we are headed to bed. I will get some pics out tomorrow. We had a lot of work to do today getting camp installed, so we are off to bed. Everyone did great today!

Last day in Intermediate camp

Hello Everyone,

Tomorrow we head to ABC! We had another restful and acclimatization day today. We went on a hike, played cards, some people studied, and read, and maybe even a nap or two. We are looking forward to getting to ABC tomorrow and get settled into our knew home for the next few weeks. We had some rain today but looks like it is clearing now. Check out the link on the previous post to Vimeo where I made a video introducing the team! Thanks for following,
