Elbrus Team #1 (The Glissaders) Farewell

Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

Today the Team toured Moscow. We visited the Novodivechy Convent and Cemetery, the scenic overlook at Sparrow Hills and Red Square. Our tour guide, Olga, was a veritable encyclopedia and was able to give us insight on the culture here both past and present.

In the evening, we had a fun farewell dinner followed by a round or two of Karaoke, which seemed to be a fitting end to this Expedition.

As this will be the Glissaders’ last Cybercast, we would like to once again thank the Team for climbing with us and for being great expedition members.

Thanks for following the Glissaders,

Carole & Vern Tejas

Elbrus Team #1 (The Glissladers) hit Moscow!

Namaste friends, family and loved ones,

Big day for the Glissladers. We got up at 4 am to catch an early morning flight to the Capitol of Russia, Moscow.

On a mini tour we passed by the famous Yuri Gagurin monument celebrating the first man in space.

Then it was on to explore the Kremlin. Dinner was followed up by a stroll down a nearby pedestrian street and people watching.

Tomorrow we will continue our explorations of the city. Thinking of you.

All our best,
Carole and Vern Tejas

Elbrus Team #1 (The Glissaders) Celebration

Friends, family & loved ones,

We woke up this morning to a view that speaks for itself.

After breakfast at the hut, we returned to Terskol this morning and had a chance to shower, repack and rehydrate (so to speak).

It’s amazing how, in less than two weeks, the Glissaders have bonded together as a team. This evening, we shared an amazing celebration dinner of shashlik and other local specialities and are now getting down to Steve’s ’80s music mix.

We (Vern and Carole) want to thank each and every member of the Team for showing up prepared and ready to climb and for their energy and team spirit.

Moscow here we come!

Carole & Vern

Elbrus Team #1 (The Glissladers) tops Europe!

Dobre vecha (good evening) friends, family and loved ones,

We awoke in the wee hours of the morn and threw back a hasty breakfast blinis and bacon and headed up the mountain at the cracks of dawn.

All the Caucus range was as clear as a bell. There were rugged mountains as far as you could see as we climbed into the day.

The whole team climbed well and summited at 11am in gorgeous conditions.

We were ravenous by the time we got back to our hut.

Tomorrow we descend to Terscol to bathe and celebrate our success.

All our best,
Carole and Vern Tejas
