Aconcagua Cybercast

Yesterday we descended from Plaza de Mulas base camp to Mendoza. The mountain gave us a farewell with very cold and snowy conditions, even at the lower slopes. All the climbers from Team Wolverine are now settled at the Park Hyatt Hotel; some have already gone home. We are thrilled to be back and to have achieved the goals of this trip, as well as the opportunity to have met exceptional people with whom we have formed wonderful bonds.

After several days high in high camps, we’re happy to announce that on December 12th we reached the summit of Aconcagua, at 6,962 masl. It was tough and challenging, as usual, but with the added difficulty of snow at the top, moderate to strong winds, and very cold temperatures! However, teamwork and strength helped us achieve this wonderful goal. Today we’re descending through the Horcones valley towards the entrance of Aconcagua Provincial Park, before heading back to the city of Mendoza. We thank everyone who has followed us throughout these days, especially our family, friends, and loved ones.

Our Operations Managers in Mendoza are happy to report that Los Bros successfully reached the summit of Aconcagua on December 12th. They summitted in good style alongside our Normal Route team “The Wolverine Team,” before making their return to Mendoza. Attached is a photo of both Alpine Ascents teams.

Finally, today we reached Camp 2, Nido de Condores, at 5400 meters above sea level. The team performed very well and arrived in great shape. Due to the weather conditions and the forecast, we will be moving up one day earlier to our summit attempt. We are evaluating all the options, and this is the one that offers the greatest chance of success. We hope to have the best experience.

After a few days without communication, we’ve just returned to strong signals at Camp 2 to share our progress. Yesterday, we moved all our loads to Camp 2, and today we’re all settled here. Tomorrow we have a big day to recover energy and prepare for our ascent to the last camp on the mountain at 6000 meters above sea level. The group’s spirits remain high, everyone is doing great, eagerly awaiting the next move. Hopefully, the weather will be on our side, and we’ll be able to fully enjoy our attempt.
