Aconcagua Cybercast

We made the move up to 18,000 ft today to Guanacos, which is our second upper mountain camp, after spending a couple of days based out of Camp 1. The team has been acclimating really well and we’re excited to be positioned just below our highest camp on the mountain.

The team made our carry of supplies up to Camp 1 today. Due to the amount of snow that fell last night and the snow that continued to fall throughout much of the day, it was a much harder hike than normal. But we persevered, enjoyed some unique snow covered views of the mountain, and accomplished our carry with some good team bonding along the way.

Today we set out early toward Plaza de Mulas, our packs ready and our spirits aligned with the path ahead. However, by decision of the park authorities and due to the weather conditions, we were required to return to Confluencia.

What could have felt like a setback became an unexpected gift: a day of enforced rest. We used the time to slow down, to share stories, and to get to know one another more deeply, strengthening the bonds of the journey. Meanwhile, the rest of the team, following a faster plan, gathered in Mendoza, preparing to rejoin the mountain in their own time.
