Aconcagua Cybercast

The team took a rest day today in Plaza Argentina and enjoyed three wonderful meals, hot showers, and small acclimatization walks. A change in the weather brought snowy conditions this afternoon and the camp is currently covered in a growing layer of white as the snow continues falling as we head to bed.

We’ll make a carry of supplies to our first upper mountain camp tomorrow.

We had a windy but clear day for our hike to Plaza Argentina and are now camped at 13,800 ft. We will spend four nights here and use this camp as our base in preparation for continuing to the upper mountain portion of our trip. We are already enjoying the extra luxuries of base camp!

Soon after, we entered Aconcagua Provincial Park, where the mountains opened before us in quiet grandeur. We walked calmly toward Confluencia, each step unhurried, each breath filled with crisp air. Along the way, we paused to take in the breathtaking view of Cerro Almacenes, standing timeless and majestic, watching over our gentle journey.

Today we set off from Mendoza with the team fully prepared and our packs loaded with excitement, ready to begin one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives.

We kicked things off with a traditional costillar a la llama, proudly flying the Argentine flag as we move toward our ultimate goal. After a short but breathtaking drive, crossing mountains that grew higher and more imposing with every mile, we finally reached the refuge.

There, we celebrated a teammate Sumeru’s birthday with a cake, sharing the moment with all the expeditions gathered at the shelter—turning the end of the day into a true celebration of adventure, teamwork, and friendship.
