Everest Basecamp Trek – Whirlybirds reach Pheriche

Namaste everyone,

We are all happily ensconced here at the Himalayan Lodge in Pheriche at 14,000 feet. Hanging around the hot stove, drinking tea and reading.
Today we awoke to snow, and were able to observe some morning prayers at the Tengboche Monastery.
Our walk was fairly chilly today with a lot of cloud cover, but still a very beautiful day with amazing views of Ama Dablam, Kantega and others. We are looking forward to 2 nights here and a partial rest day tomorrow.
We will enjoy a short acclimatizing walk tomorrow with more amazing views and lots of time for rest and self care.

Thanks for following along!

Everest Basecamp Trek – The Khumbu Khrü Klimbs to Namche Bazar

Namaste Friends, Family & Loved Ones,

The fierce thunderstorm late last night cleared out the clouds and we woke up to blue skies and a beautiful day. Such a pleasure to be trekking through the Khumbu in the springtime as the trees are in bloom and the greenery is approaching its peak.

After crossing a couple of suspension bridges spanning the Dudh Kosi River in the morning, we entered the Sagarmatha National Park after lunch and climbed up to the town of Namche Bazar, at 11,300 feet.

We arrived in time to shower and relax in the luxury of the Panorama Hotel before dinner.

The Team is doing really well and feeling great so far, so we’re really looking forward to our day in Namche tomorrow.

Everest Basecamp Trek Whirlybirds Trek to Tengboche

Namaste everyone,

We had a great day trekking to Tengboche, about 5 hours of walking. It was a beautiful day with a little fresh snow this morning making the air even more fresh. We enjoyed amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Kantega. We were able to visit the Tengboche Monastery this afternoon and sit while one of the Lamas was reciting prayers. We hope to visit again in the morning. When you spend time here walking it is very easy to feel the spirituality of this place. The team is doing great relaxing with hot drinks and reading before dinner! We are all sending our best to everyone back home.
Thanks for following along!

Everest Base Camp Trek Team 2 gets a Team Name!

Namaste friends, family and loved ones,

We got up really early and went to the airport in hopes of flying before the clouds moved in. There were several delays but we persevered and we had a late breakfast in the market town of Lukla.
Then we saddeled up our packs and headed out onto the trail to Everest base camp. On the way out of town we stopped under the Passang Lamu memorial gate to take a photo.

She was the first Nepali woman to climb Everest and is considered a national hero.
Tomorrow we plan to trek up the Dhud Kosi river valley for Namche Bazar. Please join us!

We changed our name from March 24 Team to Khumbu Khrü!

All our best,Carole & Vern Tejas

Cannot think of any weaknesses at this point. I learned a great deal from Vern and Carole and appreciated their knowledge of the area.
