Machame Team Summits Kilimanjaro!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday we hiked to our high camp at Kosovo camp at 15,800ft and arrived in the early afternoon so we would have lots of rest before heading to the summit.  This team has been really strong the entire week and I think most of the team would agree that our 12 year old member might be the strongest of us all!

After eating a big lunch and going through the briefing for the summit, we laid down for the long rest before waking up at 10:45pm and heading out for the summit right at 12 midnight. Would made great time today arriving at the summit at 6:30am right at sunrise. After descending back to high camp, packing, and eating lunch we headed down more to our camp at 10,000ft. It’s a long day but the team stayed strong and got to camp in the afternoon. We had our final dinner on the mountain early so we could get a good night sleep before waking up very early for our last hike out of the park. We are looking forward to our last hike, and getting back to Arusha for showers!

Thanks for following along,

Ben Jones

As compared to other Alpine Ascents trips I have been on (Denali, Elbrus), this trip was on par with the level of service I have come to know Alpine Ascents by. As compared to other organizations, this trip was on the high end with regards to ease of use, services, options offered.
