Team “High Rocks and The Dirty Socks” Rests and Preps for Summit Day
Kili Team Climbs to 14,900 Feet
Hello everyone,
Today we hiked from Shira camp at 12,500ft to Baranco camp at 13,000ft. It’s deceiving though because we first climbed up to 14,900ft before we descended back down to camp at 13,000ft. Today’s hike is a little longer of a day but the trail is nice and not too steep. We made good time and the team is staying healthy and feeling good at this altitude. We have a few clouds rising up from the valley to camp today but most of the day we had perfect blue skies and great views of Kili. We will rest and relax at camp for a few hours and then have dinner and head to bed. Tomorrow’s hike is shorter and a lot of fun as we climb up the Baranco wall!

August 16th Team hits Shira Camp
Hello Everyone,
Today we hiked from Machame camp at 10,000ft to Shira camp at 12,500ft. Today’s terrain on the trail is pretty rocky with a lot of big steps but the team was strong and felt good all the way to camp. It got a little windy after the first couple of hours of the hike and is still a little breezy at camp now but seems to be calming down a little. We do have beautiful blue skies and views of Kili from camp though. After a big lunch in camp we are resting this afternoon before dinner. It very quiet at camp and on the trail this trip with only a few other small groups around. We will start tomorrow morning after everyone else has already left camp which makes it even quieter and less crowded on the trail. Thanks for following along, the team is healthy and doing great!

Eric is truly a gifted, world class guide. It was clear from the first moment that Eric functioned as a very effective leader with both the group and the Tanzanian staff (porters, guides, etc.) He provided a source of authority, knowledge, support, and gave individual attention to climbers in need when the situations required. This provided an extra level of satisfaction with the climb that I assume cannot be found elsewhere.
