After a lazy day waiting for winds to decrease at High Camp Team Pancake moves down to Base Camp to await flights

Hello friends, family, and loved ones this is the Pancakes reporting from Base Camp on Mount Vinson.

We had a big day today. We woke up at High Camp and it was a bit windy, so we kind of had a lazy morning hoping that the winds would die down. (“Lazy afternoon too” commented in background.) But they did not, so in the afternoon at about 3 we left High Camp, descended the fixed lines, and picked up some cache at Low Camp, and then made our way to Base Camp which is where we’re at now.

So everyone is doing well. We had a good day today with pretty good weather. It got cloudy as we got closer to Base Camp and now we’re just waiting for flights to take us back to Union Glacier.

Stay tuned. Ciao for now.

Team Pancake successfully summits as well!

Hello friends, family, and loved ones this is Team Pancake reporting from High Camp after a successful day on the summit!

We got up a little later than expected because it was windy at High Camp this morning, so we left about 10 o’clock. And while it was windy in Camp, as soon as we went around the corner on the route towards the summit, things got better and the wind abated.

So we had a good day climbing up to 16,000… (transmission ends).

The Adventure Guides reached the summit with views as far as the eye can see!

Hi, this is Garrett Madison calling in for the Alpine Ascents Japanese Team on Mount Vinson, from Adventure Guides.

We just reached the summit of Mount Vinson! And we have a beautiful day up here, clear skies; you can see as far as the eye can see and there’s no wind at all here on the summit, a little cold, a little brisk. But we’re doing great! And we’re really happy to be up here.

Everyone did a great job getting up. And we’re going to head down soon after a few photos here on the summit. But everyone’s doing really well. Really proud of the Team today. And we’re going to head down, probably going to get back to Camp in a few hours.

All good here on Mount Vinson. We’ll check in soon.

Team Pancake relaxes at High Camp reading, snacking, and sleeping in preparation for their summit bid

Hello there friends, family, and loved ones, this is Vern Tejas with laryngitis reporting in from 12,395 feet on the side of Mount Vinson.

It’s been a long, cold, and brutal day of reading books, eating snacks, and sleeping. Everybody’s bearing up well though, under the pressure, as we’re preparing for our summit attempt. If the weather holds, we’re planning on getting up bright and early tomorrow morning and stocking our bellies full of a healthy, hearty meal and heading to the very top of Antarctica.

So I want you to stay tuned for the further adventures of Team Pancake (yelled as a group in background as well as Vern)!
