2019 TAPS Team Heads into the Mountains!

2019 TAPS Team Tours Sacred Valley

Hola Everyone,

We had another great day today touring outside of Cusco in the Sacred Valley, so called because of the fertile soil that is found in this area.

We visited the Pisac archeological site and saw how the Incas buried their dead in the shallow caves found in the side of the mountain. We spent some time at Ollantaytambo learning more about how the Incas terraced their land and irrigated their fields.

Finally, we visited Chinchero, where we saw a demonstration by local weavers of their traditional technique using natural vegetable dyes.

We’re all doing very well and are excited to hit the trail tomorrow morning. Thanks for following!

2019 TAPS Team Explores Cusco!

Hola friends, family and loved ones!

We had a great day in Cusco checking out the sights and sounds of the city. We visited several significant Inca ruins and started to learn about their culture and history. Look at the incredible stone work on the walls. Alpacas ? grazed the temple grounds.

We had fun watching a parade in the central square. Hundreds of people were participating in the historic celebration. We capped off the day with a tour of the local market. Colorful to say the least!

The Team is doing well and looking forward to touring the Sacred Valley tomorrow.

2019 TAPS Machu Picchu Expedition Begins

Greetings from Cusco! The 2019 TAPS Machu Picchu Expedition is off to a great start. In spite of a number of flight delays, the Team did all eventually arrive and we took advantage of the great weather to enjoy Plaza de Armas, the main square of Cusco.

We had some empanadas for lunch before sitting down for an orientation briefing and gear check. Cusco has many official historic sights but one of our favorite things to do here is to simply wander the quaint streets — so that’s what we did on our way to dinner.

We are now absolutely exhausted from the long travel day and are headed for bed.

We will report back to you tomorrow, and (technology permitting) every day of the trip, so check back and follow our adventure!

2018 Sacred Valley Peru Trek Explores Machu Picchu

Hey Folks,

We had the fortune to visit Machu Picchu today. Throughout our cultural tours, days spent trekking and too many three course meals to count, Machu Picchu was the crown jewel of our trip. This incredible site, set in the cloud forest is truly awe inspiring! Our trip is now complete and we said goodbye to our local guides and trekking group. It was a great trip and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring Peru.
