AAI Lead Guide Devin Bishop just checked in from the South Side of Mount Baker. After the government shut down on Friday night, we scrapped the original plan to head to Mount Rainier and went to Mount Baker National Forest instead. Currently, the team is breaking up camp and loading up their sleds to move higher – hopefully at least 4,000′ to head off any rising freezing levels. Snow is a lot better than rain! Speaking of snow, it snowed another foot last night (on top of the foot it snowed the night before) and the team is steering clear of any slopes that are even remotely slide-prone. Despite wallowing in snow, everyone on the course is doing great and learning a ton about winter camp maintenance. Talk about great training for Denali!
