Aconcagua-Vacas Valley-Dec 2-Team Prepares in Mendoza

Greetings Family and Friends, Today the December 2nd Alpine Ascents Aconcagua team began their preparations for departure tomorrow to Aconcagua. The team met with guides and AAI staff for introductions, an orientation and checked all their gear at the Hyatt hotel in beautiful Mendoza. We then had a wonderful traditional asado at a restaurant in the city. Tomorrow we will depart for Penitentes, a small hamlet near the access point for the mountain: one more night in the comforts of a hotel before we begin our trek towards basecamp. Penitentes is at 8,000’ and is our first night of acclimitization. Stay tuned for a team naming and for updates on the Cybercast page as we move towards our goal of South America’s high point. Good vibes here in Mendoza! -Evan Miller, AAI Lead Guide
