The Orient Express Team is rewarded with spectacular views hiking up to Amagino Col yesterday before resting today

Friends, family, loved ones, Stuart here from The Orient Express calling in from our Camp 1, just checking in with some progress so far.

Yesterday we had a great day. The Team did an acclimatization hike up to Amagino Col (just right about 5,200 meters at the Col). Beautiful day. We were rewarded with some spectacular views of Amagino itself, Aconcagua, Glaciar los Polacos, and some of the valleys we came up, the Vacas and the Rellenchos. We got back last night. We had an Indian meal; it came from Bombay courtesy of Amazon.com which we all enjoyed. Today we all enjoyed a well-deserved rest day.

Unfortunately on a sad note, George’s back’s been acting up. He’s had some issues in the past couple of days and upon reflection, contemplation this morning, George decided to descend down sadly and fly out. Jimmy, his partner in crime, decided to follow suit. So, gentleman, you’re missed. It’s pretty lonely up here. Jimmy, she asked if he could run up and play some bocce ala rock; it’s only a hundred meters or so.

Anyway, joking aside, it’s down to just Agnes and myself at the moment. The plan tomorrow is to move up to Amagino Col. There’s a great Nimbabwean songwriter who once said… (transmission garbled) so Agnes and I shall move up tomorrow, hopefully joined by Jangbu and Bob from there down at Base Camp at the moment. We’ve got six porters, enough food to feed San Martin’s army for several weeks.

And we’ll give you a call with progress. So The Orient Express moves on. All’s well here at Camp. Thanks for tuning in. Ciao for now.
